If President Obama makes a speach to encourage black people would he be criticized?

Obama has to really be carefull. If he ever says anything in a speach to blck people, then the white folks would get pissed . He is in a unique position. And here in Tennessee where I live there are alot of ignorant rednecks just looking for a reason to critise him. He can't seem to win.|||I think Bill Cosby spoke out to black people to encourage them, and it was the black people that got mad, not the white.|||As long as we make sure no money goes to those WHITE construction workers, everything will be great!|||no|||Hopefully not, but maybe Jesse Jackson wont wanna cut his nads of like last time, when he made a speech about Black Fathers.|||"White will do what's right" Benediction

"Make sure not to hire highly skilled white people" Reich on stimulus

And you want to add to that another racially motivated speech?

At some point it'd be nice if we were represented as the American people.|||He has already given a speech like that to black people and I praise him for that.

He needs to give speeches like this once a week. We need everyone in this country to be responsible for themselves and get off their butt and get a job.|||His text of his speeches so far contain attempts to encourage all people, not just black people. However, because he speaks in African-American rhetorical style, I'm sure that many black persons feel that the messages are especially for them.|||It already happened. During the election he gave a speech on Father's Days talking about absentee fathers in the black community(an issue he personally has experience with).

He was criticized. Jesse Jackson threatened in an infamous outtake to cut his nuts off. But he survived it and his message was well received in many quarters.|||People that criticize Obama are automatically "rednecks" in your opinion? He's the leader of all the US. That includes blacks, whites, Asians, Jews, etc.|||Looks like you answered your own question. If he did made a speech to encourage just black people, I believe it would get alot of white people really angry. Considering even before the election, all that anyone seemed to be pushing was black this black that and it does not seem to be getting any better.|||Obama needs to put Farrakhan in power to piss them off more|||Probably. He was criticized by Jessie Jackson in the election for saying that certain aspects of the African American community and lifestyle were flawed. I'm sure people from all perspective will criticize him.|||Well he could be like mlk and use the word people, all, everyone! Because this is America and we live in a country where there are a lot of races!

And I feel he won't make a speech for just the "black" people because he believes in unity. Which everyone should!

But yeah the man can't get a break and he can do the greatest things, he will still never win, like you said!|||no because everyone that would try to criticize him would be called racist|||I hope so! He's to be the President, and not the leader of only blacks!

Blacks have all kinds of laws to encourage them!|||yes ,but he would not make a speech to encourage black people he would make one that encourage all people .he said in his speak that now is the time that we put aside our petty differences.|||A little straight talk from Obama to black teens and especially to young black men would certainly be appreciated by me. But Bill Cosby wasn't appreciated by blacks; I doubt that Obama would be either even if he is President.

There are a lot of people critical of Obama and, really, who could care less what the ignorant rednecks/racists think.|||Why are you still trying to make this a race issue? This kind of ignorance is exactly what most Americans want to stomp out. We are all humans, different colors of skin, but still all the same. It is time for us to come together as one to help our country become the greatest once again. Get with the program please...|||why would he need to give a speech to one particular color of people?

doesn't that seem, kind of like a democrat tactic from 1965 in alabama?

not really a modern approach, or a solution. divided we fall... now who said that? right, a republican named lincoln.

here is another famous quote from a famous republican you may know and love".... a man should be judged by the content of his character and not the color of his skin" - Martin Luther King

i am not a republican, but i am mixed race, and i despise racism.|||Why should Obama address just blacks in the first place?? That in its self is very racist, and "rednecks" and people in general would have every right to critisise.

I love how everyone just ignores the fact that Obama is half WHITE aswell

Everyone needs to stop focusing on the colour and start focusing on Obama's plans for America|||No, there is nothing wrong with that. I actually think he's been very candid about his choice of words. He's been very professional and hasn't made any comments or statements that can comeback to haunt him. His wife is a different story, however.|||The more speeches he makes to black people, the better. He is a great role model: Get a good education, work hard, and you CAN be successful. Too many black kids have grown up believing they don鈥檛 have a fair shot at success. Barack Obama is living proof that they do have a chance if they work at it.

Can you imagine growing up believing that your prospects are limited because of your color? I know a guy who had polio as a child and has been using a wheelchair ever since. He is today a very successful attorney. He didn鈥檛 believe he was crippled. He believed he could use his mind, if not his legs, and he has done that very well.

Whoever you are and whatever you do, your accomplishments will NEVER exceed your own efforts.

President Obama will be criticized for waking up in the morning. It goes with the territory. But I don't think that will deter him from doing his job as best he can. He's no doubt used to criticism.
