Do you think that racism will truly derail now that Obama is president, or that on the contrary, it will increase anti-black sentiment?|||People will pay more attention to the fools in the hood.|||With the downturn of the economy and just about everyone is losing their jobs or facing the threat of losing their jobs, people will have to put racism on hold. We all better help President Obama get the economy up and running because if we don't, it will be disastrous for all globally. If the United States fail, the world will fail. The US cannot afford the luxury of racism of any kind!|||Nothing will stop those guy,s . They were born on hate....it don't matter who it is. And yes i think it will increase. But i don't think it will be them as much as the lower level black American,s out there that are going to be trying to smear this in to the white American,s face,s. You just wait and see, the black people have a lot of animus against the white people and there going use this election on them. But in the end they will soon see it got them no where.|||Moderation only enrages those on both extremes. They will grow louder, they will not abandon their cause.
The only hope is that the rest of us overcome our personal discomfort with race and open a dialog and come together. It won't "just happen" because of the constitutional regime change in this country.|||If you're entrenched in hatred and you judge a person on the basis of his skin rather than his accomplishments and character -- what makes you think a black president is going present any kind of common sense or reason w/ these people.

All racial attitudes must begin to change. The election of Barak Obama is an important step in this direction. I hope beyond hope that his presidency does not create a new wave of reverse racism. This will cause them to retreat to the hills (or wherever) in preparation. As a result they will be associating more with people of similar beliefs, which will cause them to become more extreme.|||Even as the question is asked, I see a bunch of Dick Cheney look-a-likes, pressing NOBAMA stickers to the back window of their 4WDs. One day soon, all over the country, they'll all get out, wave their little flags a few times, and it'll be "ashes, ashes, all fall down". Bigots need plenty of attention, and no one cares any more. It just got old.|||They will exist, there are fewer, proven by the fact that he was elected at all... their children do not follow their lead any longer, they follow the world's. There may be a small blip increase temporarily, the last gasp of the dying.|||White and Black supremacists should know that this is not a good environment for them. Radicalism on either side is not going to be tolerated by the majority.
