Does any part of the conservatives argument that Obama started a war in Libya make sense?|||No, but to be fair, none of their criticisms of Obama have ever made much sense.|||Obama did not start a war. A decision was declared by UN to institute a no-fly zone over Libya. Without it, Gaddaffi would have killed EVERY SINGLE rebel. Also, Obama was not the one heading this campaign. Believe it or not, it was and is France that is pushing hardest to help Libya. The US has said from the start that they are not going to be heading this. Obama has openly said that he needs to hand the reigns over to somebody else. The US is already in two wars, so it cannot afford to be in another. And in case you are wondering about the chronology of the events. A great number of Libyans who were fed up with Gaddafi, rose up against him. Gaddaffi, being the evil douchebag that he is, brought in mercenaries and killed many of them. He was willing to head to Banghazi( which is basically rebel headquarters) and finish them off. But, then the UN intervened and safed those people by instituting a no-fly zone. A lot of Gaddafi's forces are still fighting though, so it's not over and a lot of people have died.|||Technically, "Obama" did not "start a war" in Libya. It was a United Nations sanction that sent multiple country's air forces to the region to enforce a no fly zone. There was no declaration of war, just as there was no declaration of war for other U.N conflict such as the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Obama was merely following international policy and would be criticized either way. If he decided to wait and disregard the sanction he would have been criticized as being slow to act and not a central part of the international community, while if he acted as he did now, he would be criticized of not consulting the formal national policies. The term civil war is debatable since the Libyan government has substantially more equipment than those of the opposition, we have also been looking for a reason to take out Libya for some time now, if you were born in the seventies you would think that Gaddafi was even more of a dictator that he is RIGHT NOW.
P.S You DO NOT WANT the president to declare war, it gives him supreme power to do whatever the skidoodles he wants to do, look at Lincoln he enabled martial law, look at Bush with the Patriot act. Throughout our history war means more power for the executive branch.
P.S Go easy on Obama he is leading our country through one of it's darkest periods. He has had to deal with the war in Iraq, Afghanistan, the BP oil spill, the Haitian earthquake, a economic depression, unemployment, a housing crisis, petty politics, the 9.0 Japan earthquake, the Mexican drug war, a series of revolutions in the middle east threatening American resources, a failing education system, North Korean aggression, and economic warfare with China. Peace out, make sure to do something with your life, the world needs it.|||I never heard Fox accuse Obama of starting a war. They questioned things like 1) Obama following France's lead instead of leading himself, 2) Obama being in Brazil when he had pressing matters at home, 3) the cost of the operations in Libya, and 4) the extent of our involvement and whether it will need Congressional approval ultimately.|||Scary thing is, Hillary is being credited now with leading the Us into war with Libya. Hillary. Not Obama who is busy on vacation in Rio. How embarrassing that this man is our "leader".
Fox is Prop- To my knowledge every ounce of blame was placed squarely on Bush during his 8 years in office. There were even calls for his impeachment. You remember that, right? How much of this current sham are you prepared to place on Obama? None right? Typical.|||There was no civil war in Libya. There was a small group of rag tag hooligans firing off AK47s in the air and that situation was in the process of being policed when Western forces decided to call it a revolution and pile in like a pack of wolves. Gaddafi has enormous support in Libya while the so called rebels have so little support that their only hope of success is to draw in the wolves and then feed on the body of a shattered Libya. Any talk of a humanitarian mission is completely at odds with the past record of the US and the British who traditionally make a game out of shooting brown people with high power weapons.|||Godless Heathen nailed it. Obama didn't start the war, and nothing the conservatives say about Obama makes any sense.
I would prefer we stay out of it but until we get Congress to overturn Citizens United, there is no hope for that.

Obama stepped in and didn't let the same thing happen in Libya, HW Bush didn't stop it in Iraq... W was about 15 years late to the party...|||He may not have started the war but there is no reason for him to have our military go in and get involved. It has nothing to do with us and i think we should stay out of it and mind our own business. But what can i say this is the U. S. of A. and i this is what we do.|||Because wars don't officially start until the USA is involved.|||This is all a part of his " Muslim Outreach " program he referenced awhile back.|||He got us involved and that's the only thing that matters.|||He kissed the europeans rearends to pass a U N resolution. They ( US, UK and France) did not like the way Qadaffi was stopping the rebels so they decided to try for regime change.
